MCM Tiffany & Co. Swiss 8-Day Clock Gilt-Brass Case, Mathey-Tissot Luxor 15-jwls
CIRCA 1950 ICONIC ART DECO STYLE TIFFANY & CO. Gold-plated solid brass case, premier quality Swiss 8-day movement. This handsome table clock is from my personal collection of vintage and antique timepieces. Elegant Tiffany and Co. Designs produced at the close of the 19th century through the early 21st century comprise a significant category of noteworthy clocks I’ve curated since 1970. The heavy case is precisely machined and polished. Cylindrical uprights with dome tops flank the square case with beveled front edge. Stacked discs of ascending diameters serve as feet. A glass crystal protects the matte silvered dial with applied brass numbers and dot markers. Luxor (in partnership with prestigious Matthey-Tissot) along with Swiss competitors ImHof, Looping and Angelus manufactured the best quality jeweled lever alarm, desk and shelf clocks. The movement in this clock produced exclusively for Tiffany & Co. The clock displays beautifully and holds accurate time. 3.25″ high, 5.0″ wide and 1.55 deep at feet. Doug Tomsky, NAWCC #27572. The movement was completely disassembled (including removal of mainspring from barrel), ultrasonically cleaned and rinsed, elements checked for wear, reassembled and lubricated with high-grade Swiss grease and two viscosity oils. The brass case was also taken apart for hand cleaning. NOTE: Alarm train elements were severely damaged and removed. Meticulous restoration ensures reliable operation for years.
